Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
"Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective" for the DS is another one of those cult classics. Created by Shu Takumi, the same person created the Ace Attorney series, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a game where you play as a ghost. On a quest to remember your past, you're equiped with "tricks" that can be used to not only travel back in time, but also manipulate your environment.
Your goal is to not only recover your memories, but also to prevent other people from dying, all while uncovering a wild plot. If you're a fan of visual novels or puzzle games, this game will serve you quite well. The characters are very memorable with my favorite being "Missle".
There's a lot of great things to say about this game. From the art to the music, as well as the animations, there's so much packed into such a small package. With a playtime of maybe 6 or so hours, you can definitely beat this game in a sitting or two. Unfortunately there isn't too much replayability to the game like most visual novels, but don't let that stop you from picking it up!
While it was exclusive to the DS for quite a while, in 2023, the game recieved a remastered release on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. Luckily for us, this remaster is wonderful and has recieved some well deserved praise.
